Backtesting plays an important role in one's trading plan.

Backtest offers traders a way to evaluate and optimize their strategies before implementing them in real-world markets by providing traders with vital statistics on P/L, win/loss ratios, and much more.

  • Our first step would be to create a strategy to backtest and yes, exactly the same way as you'd create any strategy on Capitalise.ai.

  • Once we have our entry, click next and enter your exit condition/s - which is essential when running a backtest.

  • Then click next again, and select backtest.

Once backtesting of the strategy is complete, which shouldn't take too long, you'll have all the results on easy to read widgets.

Customizing the backtest period

If you want to adjust the time frame of the backtest (< 90 days), you can do so by clicking the calendar icon next to the backtest button:

Then you can:

  1. Specify the dates of the backtests period.

  2. Mark the dates on a calendar.

  3. Choose a period from the suggested periods.

Once you are all set, click on "Run Backtest".

Editing the backtest

You can edit your backtest or if you'd like you can rerun it. If you like the results, you can "Replicate as Real" straight away.
