Trading takes place across various time zones worldwide, which can make all the time-related aspects a bit confusing.
Since timing is critical in trading, getting it right is key. To help you navigate time zones on our platform, we’ve put together this simple guide.
FXCM Users
For FXCM users, the daily start time for all assets is 17:00 EST. This affects terms such as daily open, bar, daily high/low, etc.
Strategy Operators
When creating a strategy, you may encounter the term “My time”, which refers to the time zone selected during your Capitalise sign-up process.
Other time-related operators like “Daily Change” or “Last Day Low” are universal terms. These are not based on your local time zone. Instead, they adjust according to the type of assets in your strategy.
Crypto Pairs
For crypto pairs, the default time zone is UTC. This means that when we mention the “last day close” for a crypto pair, we’re referring to the price at 00:00 UTC.
Forex Pairs
Forex pairs also default to the UTC time zone. So, when we mention the “last day close” for a Forex pair, we’re looking at the price at 00:00 UTC.
Stocks
Stocks are a bit different. The time zone varies depending on the exchange. For example, stocks traded on the NYSE have a default time zone of EST.
So, when we refer to the “last day close” for an NYSE stock, we’re talking about the price at 16:00 EST.
Capitalise Interface
All times shown within the Capitalise Platform are based on your computer's time zone. For example, the entry and exit times on the Trading Cards in your strategy’s timeline will display in your local time.
Charts
Since charts within our platform are powered by TradingView (a third-party platform), their default time zone may not align with the Capitalise platform’s time zones. Additionally, time zones within the charts may vary depending on the asset type.
Crypto pairs: Default time zone is UTC.
Forex pairs: Default time zone is UTC.
Stocks: Default time zone is the exchange’s time zone. For example, for stocks traded on the NYSE, the default time zone will be EST.
