Trading happens in time zones all around the world, which can make all the time-related aspects pretty darn confusing.

And since trading is all about timing, getting it right is incredibly important. So, we’re making it as easy as possible for you to understand the time zones on our platform with this simple-to-follow guidebook.

For FXCM users only the daily start time for ALL ASSETS is 17:00 EST (affects terms as daily open, bar, daily high/low etc.)

Strategy Operators

When you create a strategy, you may see the term “My time,” which refers to the time zone that you selected when you signed up for the Capitalise Platform.

Other time-related operators include “Daily Change” or “Last Day Low.” Since these terms are universal, they aren’t set according to your local time zone. That means that their time zone will vary according to the type of assets in your strategy.

Crypto Pairs

When it comes to Crypto pairs, the default time is set to UTC. That means that when we refer to the “last day close” for a Crypto pair, we’re talking about the price at 00:00 UTC.

Forex Pairs

For Forex pairs, the default time zone is also in UTC. This means that when we refer to the “last day close” for a Forex pair, we’re talking about the price at 00:00 UTC.

Stocks*

Stocks, on the other hand, are a little different. The time zone varies depending on the exchange — so, for instance, stocks traded on NYSE will have a default time zone of EST. Thus, when we refer to the “last day close” for a NYSE stock, we’re looking at the price at 00:00 EST.

Capitalise Interface

Any time shown within the Capitalise Platform is set according to the time on your computer. For instance, all entry and exit times on the Trading Cards in your strategy’s timeline will be listed in your local time, as depicted below:

Charts

Last but not least, we have the charts. Since all charts within our platform are provided by TradingView, a third-party platform, their default time zone won’t necessarily align with the time zones within the Capitalise Platform.

Additionally, time zones in the chart may also vary with the asset type.

1.     For Crypto pairs, the default time zone is UTC.

2.     For Forex pairs, the default time zone is UTC.

3.     *For Stocks the default time zone is the exchange’s time zone. For example, if the stock is traded in NYSE the default time zone will be set to EST.

* Temporarily available for IB users only
